Derek Walker



Derek is an experienced company director and senior executive who has led major transformational change initiatives within several organisations and been involved in the negotiation and implementation of many major projects, as well as mergers and acquisitions. Derek is the former chief executive of Centralpower Limited. Derek's directorships include Quotable Value NZ, Chairman of the Palmerston North Airport Company and Chairman of NZ Windfarms Limited.



Nelson Speirs



Nelson is Executive Chairman of Speirs Group, a publicly listed Palmerston North-based company with interests in food processing.   Nelson has been a director of several publicly listed companies and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.



Michael Ahie

Michael Ahie is a business owner and company director based in Wellington.   He is the CEO and a founding partner of Shirlaws New Zealand Limited.


Michael has broad international business and governance experience with multinational companies.   He held senior roles with Toyota New Zealand Ltd, the New Zealand Dairy Board and Wrightson Ltd.   He uses this experience and his understanding of the macro issues that businesses face in his client and governance work. Michael brings a passion for his country and is dedicated to the commercial and cultural success of organisations in New Zealand to take to a world stage.


He is Chairman of Plant and Food Research Ltd, and a director of a number of companies including Farmers Mutual Group, Manawatu Investment Group Ltd and Clearwater Ltd.


Michael completed the Executive Development Programme at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and received his First Class Honours Degree from Massey University.


Of Taranaki, Nga Ruahine and Ngati Ruanui descent, Michael lives in Wellington, with his wife Janine and their two sons.



Steve Maharey



CNZM, B.A., M.A (Hons)

Steve Maharey is the Vice-Chancellor of Massey University. Prior to this he was a Minister in Government for nine years, holding a number of positions including Minister of Education, Minister Responsible for the Education Review Office and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority, Minister of Research, Science and Technology, Minister Responsible for Crown Research Institutes, and several others.


He had responsibility for the Families Commission, Learning Media, the Foundation for Research Science and Technology, Marsden Fund, the Health Funding Authority and many other public agencies.


Prior to entering Parliament he was a Snr Lecturer in Sociology. Earlier in his career he was a Jnr. Lecturer in Business Administration. He was influential, through his teaching and publications, in the development of New Zealand sociology and formation of the fields of cultural studies and media studies in New Zealand.


He has served as an elected City Councillor and was appointed a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZM) in 2008.



Vicki Stewart



Vicki is a company director at Stewarts Electrical Supplies, a wholesale supplier to the electrical industry of New Zealand. Stewarts has a network of 13 branches in the Lower North Island from New Plymouth to Wellington on the west coast and Napier to Masterton on the east coast.
